oakland a’s and the juvenile superhero

Published by sarahcrisp at 12:07 pm under sports Edit This

it sounds like an amateur comic book title, but this one is for real.

on wednesday, the oakland a’s signed 16 year old pitcher, michel inoa, of the dominican republic. michael is 6 foot 7 210 lb righty, with fastballs in the mid to upper 90’s. but when both of your parents are pitchers, youre destined to have a damn good arm. at least 7 teams have shown interest in the teenager, but “no one has shown the hospitality that the a’s have” he said. hospitality is always nice, but the 2 million dollars more than the other teams had to offer probably had something to do with it. his total signing bonus is an estimated 4.25 million dollars!

the a’s and his manager encouraged him to go by “michael” instead of using his given name of michel. i dont know why, especially with all of the names out there that even the commentators cant pronounce, but if someone was sliding me a cash stuffed envelope with more money than id make in a lifetime, they could change my name to drew peacock, and it would be fine with me!
